US carries out seventh night of strikes as Iran attacks military sites
The United States carried out airstrikes on Iran for the seventh night in a row, while Iran launched attacks on military sites linked to the US in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain.
Iran warned that it would begin a “full-scale offensive” if the US continues its attacks for the next few days.
The US military said its strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities.
Iran accused the US of hitting civilian facilities, including an airport, a railway station and bridges. Iranian officials said three people were killed and eight others injured in the southern province of Hormozgan.
Iran also claimed that two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting mines, but the US denied any involvement. Iran said it also stopped four ships from passing through the strategic waterway.
Iran said it targeted US military facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain. Jordan said it intercepted 10 Iranian missiles, while Bahrain confirmed that air raid sirens were activated.
The fighting has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil supplies.
Iran’s health ministry said at least 38 people have been killed and more than 400 injured since the latest round of fighting began.
Meanwhile, China and Pakistan have called on both countries to stop the fighting and return to negotiations.
