NFF sacks Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sacked Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu and his technical crew following the team’s poor performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The decision was taken by the NFF Executive Committee after the Falcons were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the tournament in Morocco.

The team also failed to secure automatic qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup after losing to South Africa in the play-off.
The NFF announced the decision in a brief statement on X.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the statement said.
Madugu led Nigeria to their 10th WAFCON title last year, but the team’s campaign for an 11th title was affected by poor preparations and underwhelming performances from some key players.
Madugu became interim coach of the Super Falcons in September 2024 before signing a two-year contract in October 2025.
He leaves the position after about two years in charge.
