
Tinubu appoints Enitan as Head of Civil Service
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment in a statement on Wednesday.
The appointment will take effect on August 27, 2026.
Enitan will replace Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Enitan, who is from Osun State, is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, working at the Ministries of Police Affairs and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the Office of the Vice President.
Onanuga said Enitan brings extensive experience and a strong understanding of the Federal Civil Service to his new role.
Tinubu thanked Walson-Jack for her service and the reforms and innovations introduced during her time in office.
The President also asked Enitan to build on the ongoing reforms, improve professionalism and efficiency, and help create a more effective and responsive Civil Service.
