This year’s theme is “2027 Election: Defending Nigeria’s Democracy in the Age of Disinformation.”
According to the council, the event is aimed at promoting responsible journalism and fighting misinformation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The public lecture and awards ceremony will hold at Transcorp Hilton Abuja and is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, including journalists, government officials and civil society groups.
Mohammed Bago is expected to chair the lecture, while former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje will serve as co-chairman.
The event will also honour outstanding journalists and notable Nigerians for their contributions to national development.
As part of the activities, the council is partnering with Nizamiye Hospital to provide free medical checks and consultations for journalists and members of the public.
NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, called on journalists and stakeholders to participate fully in the activities, describing the week as a time for reflection, celebration and professional excellence.
