Man City suffer Doku injury blow ahead of new season
Manchester City have suffered an injury setback ahead of the new Premier League season, with winger Jeremy Doku ruled out for up to three weeks.
Doku picked up a calf injury during the first half of City’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield last weekend.
The 24-year-old will miss City’s opening Premier League match against Bournemouth.
City manager Enzo Maresca said Doku was the only player currently unavailable because of injury.
“Unfortunately, in the last game, at half-time, he was complaining about a little bit of pain in his calf,” Maresca told reporters on Friday.
He said Doku was already expected to play only 45 minutes, but the injury could keep him out for two to three weeks.
Maresca is beginning his first season as City manager after replacing Pep Guardiola.
After hosting Bournemouth, City will travel to Crystal Palace before facing Coventry and then Manchester United in the derby.
