Affleck brothers reunite at Venice for Casey’s ‘Company’ premiere

The Affleck family turned the Venice Film Festival into a family affair on Tuesday as actor and filmmaker Casey Affleck premiered his latest film, Company.

Casey, 51, was joined on the red carpet by his older brother, Ben Affleck, 54, and his 22-year-old son, Indiana Affleck. Casey’s younger son, 18-year-old Atticus Affleck, also stars in the film but did not attend the red-carpet event.

The appearance marked a rare public reunion for Casey and Ben, who had not been photographed together at a major film event in nearly a decade. Ben attended the Venice festival to support his brother, who directed, co-wrote and stars in Company.

Company, which is competing at the festival, is a Gothic drama featuring Nick Nolte, Ben Mendelsohn, Adelaide Clemens, Scoot McNairy and Emily Alyn Lind. The film also features Casey’s two sons, making it a particularly personal project for the actor and director.

Casey said directing his sons was one of the most meaningful professional experiences of his career. He said both had grown up around the film industry and had a natural understanding of the work.

The premiere also carried an emotional significance for the family. During a press conference, Casey revealed that he dedicated Company to his parents, Chris and Timothy Affleck, who both died this year.

He said he had hoped they would see the film but was unable to share the finished project with them.

The film received a strong response at Venice, with reports saying it earned a standing ovation after its premiere. Company is currently competing for the festival’s Golden Lion, with the winner due to be announced on Saturday.
