Police Inspector dies after collapsing during fitness exercise

A police inspector with the Sokoto State Police Command has died after reportedly collapsing shortly after taking part in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.

The deceased, Inspector Adamu Isah, was attached to the command’s Department of Operations.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, said Isah collapsed shortly after returning from the weekly Walkathon exercise held at the command headquarters on Wednesday.

He was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors later confirmed him dead.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed sadness over the officer’s sudden death, describing him as a dedicated and brave policeman who served the country with commitment and professionalism.

Shaffa said Isah was also an active sportsman and a member of the command’s volleyball team and boxing team.

“The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah,” the commissioner said.

He condoled with the deceased’s family, friends and colleagues, assuring the family that the command would provide the necessary support.

The commissioner also urged officers and men of the command to remain strong and take comfort in Isah’s life of service to the nation.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to give his family the strength to bear the loss.
