Houthis say Saudi strike kills 6 in Yemen’s Mokha
Saudi airstrikes on the Red Sea port city of Mokha in Yemen killed at least six people and wounded eight others, the Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency reported on Tuesday.
Saba said the victims included two children and a woman. It also reported that a child and a woman were among those injured. The claims have not been independently verified.
The strikes came as the Iran-backed Houthi movement continues a major offensive along Yemen’s western coast, including the capture of Mokha and other strategic areas near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The Houthis have also claimed responsibility for recent drone and ballistic missile attacks targeting Riyadh and Saudi energy facilities along the Red Sea coast.
Saudi Arabia backs Yemen’s internationally recognised government, while the Houthis control large parts of the country. The conflict has continued for more than a decade, with previous efforts to reach a lasting political settlement failing to end the fighting.
The latest escalation has raised concerns over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a major shipping route linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
