Brentford sign Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare in club-record transfer
Brentford have signed Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare from French club Lens in a club-record deal reportedly worth £39 million ($52 million).
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club, with the option to extend it by one more year.

Sangare enjoyed an impressive season with Lens, helping the club finish second in France’s Ligue 1 and win the French Cup.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews praised the midfielder, saying he has the qualities the club looks for both on and off the pitch.
He said Sangare developed well during previous loan spells and was one of Lens’ most consistent performers last season.
Andrews also highlighted Sangare’s growing importance to the Mali national team.
Sangare has made 16 appearances for Mali since making his international debut.
He joined Lens from Austrian side Rapid Vienna last year and played 29 league matches during the 2025–26 season.
Sangare is expected to strengthen Brentford’s midfield as England international Jordan Henderson closes in on a move to Chelsea.
