APC to honour former President Buhari, Tinubu, others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it plans to honor some of its pre-performing governors and lawmakers elected on its platform with a Productivity Award on Nov. 25 in Abuja.

Dr. Tom Ohikere, the Chairman of APC NewsOnline, said this when he addressed newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

He said that President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari would also be honored at the event for their contribution to good governance and the sustenance of democratic rule in the country.

Ohikere, a former Kogi Commissioner for Information in Kogi, said that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his successor, Sen. Kashim Shettima, would also be honored at the event.

He said all performing APC governors, National and State Houses of Assembly members, and all the party’s national chairmen from 2015 to date would be honored at the event.

“The productivity and performance award is to encourage and boost the level of performance by recognizing and appreciating party members.

“And leaders who have distinguished themselves as public officials since the inception of APC’s administration in the country to stimulate replication by other members.

“Essentially, the program is to award chosen party leaders for high performance, higher productivity, and achievements.

“Prudent management of resources and milestones fosters the spirit of healthy competition among APC leaders and stakeholders,” he said.

Ohikere added that the event would underscore the vital role of productivity in the global community.

He said that productivity was a fundamental determinant of growth, social progress, an improved standard of living, economic growth, and human development.

“The ultimate aim is to further deepen and strengthen the delivery of democratic dividends at all levels by the APC-led administration for the consolidation and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

He said the peer review report of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) from 2015 until date would be used to select governors with observable milestones, legacy projects, and value for money.

He said that the APC Parliamentary Award would be based on the number of constituency projects, motions, and bills sponsored by legislators in both the National and State Houses of Assembly.
