In Abuja, more people in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party want Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to team up for the 2027 presidential election.
This idea is getting stronger and causing talks about keeping the party united.

It started with fans, but now it’s organized. The party has big names like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen. Leaders David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola hope ADC becomes a strong opposition party.
The Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement launched in Abuja. It has groups in all 36 states and the FCT. Justin Ijeh, its publicity secretary, said: “This is a big step for real change across Nigeria. We say no to tribal, regional, or religious politics.”
Fans say Obi appeals to youth nationwide, while Kwankwaso is strong in the north. Together, they could win big voter groups. Dr. Yunusa Tanko from the Obidient Movement added: “Since 2023, we’ve talked about this. Obi and Kwankwaso fans uniting could win anything.”
But it’s not simple. Atiku has his own strong team and won’t quit easily. Kwankwaso also wants to lead, not just be number two.
Party spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said: “We’re not worried. Members can share ideas as long as they follow rules.” Obi calls for all opposition to unite: “Set aside differences and work together.”
Reactions differ. Ex-governor Ayodele Fayose said: “Without Obi, ADC is done. He’s great, but winning now is hard.” Ibrahim Abdulkarim claimed Kwankwaso agreed to be Obi’s running mate. Kwankwaso fan Abba Gwale said: “We back this team. Nigeria will improve.”
Analyst Dr. Thaddy Asogwa warned: “It could change the election, but excitement doesn’t always mean votes.”
No big splits yet. The party says rules will pick the candidate. But the race for the ticket has already started.
