US sends new military equipment to Nigeria
The United States has sent new military equipment to Nigeria to support the country’s efforts to fight terrorism and improve its security operations.
The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said the equipment arrived in Nigeria over the weekend under a Foreign Military Sales agreement between the two countries.
The equipment was transported to Nigeria aboard a US Air Force C-17 Globemaster III military aircraft.
AFRICOM did not disclose the type or value of the equipment, but said the delivery was part of continued US support for Nigeria’s security efforts.
The move comes as Nigeria continues its fight against Boko Haram and other armed groups, particularly in the northeast and other parts of the country.
The United States and Nigeria have continued to strengthen their security cooperation, including military training, intelligence sharing and support for counterterrorism operations.
AFRICOM said the latest delivery reflects the US commitment to working with Nigeria to improve its ability to respond to security threats.
