UK funeral director faces jail over bodies scandal
A funeral director in the UK is facing jail after admitting to serious offences involving the mishandling of bodies and deceiving grieving families.
Robert Bush, 48, admitted to 67 offences committed over 12 years. Police found 31 bodies in his funeral home that should have been cremated months earlier.

One of the bodies, a stillborn baby, had been left there for almost two years. Officers also found more than 100 containers of ashes.
Prosecutors said the bodies were left in poor condition and that the funeral home looked like “something from a horror scene.”
One mother, Jasmine Beverley, said she believed her stillborn son had been cremated in 2022. She later discovered his body was still at the funeral home almost two years after the funeral.
Bush admitted to offences including preventing lawful burial, theft and fraud. Four fraud charges involved giving women ashes that were not the remains of their unborn babies.
His sentencing hearing, expected to last five days, will include statements from more than 100 victims. The case has also led to calls for stricter regulation of the funeral industry in the UK.
