The 34-year-old has been with Barcelona since 2014 but has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons.
After losing his place to Joan Garcia, Ter Stegen was loaned to Girona in January. However, he suffered a hamstring injury in just his second match, which ended his season.
The Germany international was also left out of his country’s squad for the recent FIFA World Cup.
Ter Stegen has enjoyed a successful spell at Barcelona, winning the UEFA Champions League and seven La Liga titles.
He remains under contract with the Spanish club until June 2028.
