Kano Assembly suspends three LGA chairmen over alleged misconduct
The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended the chairmen of Bagwai, Bebeji and Rogo local government areas for three months over allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office.
The decision followed the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during Tuesday’s plenary.

The committee said its investigation found evidence of alleged misuse of public funds meant for development projects in Bagwai.
In Bebeji, it reported allegations of abuse of office, violations of due process in contract awards, illegal sale of council land, diversion of public funds and other procurement irregularities.
The committee also accused the Rogo chairman of misusing funds meant for rural road and electricity projects, as well as violating government procedures.
Following the report, lawmakers unanimously approved the committee’s recommendation to suspend the three chairmen while investigations continue.
Speaker Ismail Falgore directed the vice chairmen of the affected councils to take over in acting capacities during the three-month suspension.
He also instructed the committee to complete its investigation within 10 weeks and submit its report to the Assembly.
The suspended chairmen are Bello Abdullahi Gadanya (Bagwai), Dr Alhassan Salisu (Bebeji) and Abubakar Mustapha (Rogo).
