President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate asking lawmakers to approve a new foreign loan of about $516.3 million (about ₦516,333,070).
In a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary in Abuja, Tinubu said the money would be borrowed from Deutsche Bank and used to finance the Sokoto–Badagry 1,000‑kilometre Super Highway project.

The president urged the Senate to pass the approval quickly so the government can move forward with the approved borrowing plan for the highway.
Akpabio then sent the letter to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts for review and asked the committee to come back with a report within one week.
