Liverpool must accept ‘ups and downs’, says Iraola
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola says the club must be ready for “ups and downs” as he works to build consistency at Anfield.
The Spanish coach made the comment after Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
The result was Liverpool’s third draw in their opening four league matches under Iraola, although they remain unbeaten since he took charge.
Liverpool had earlier recorded wins over Ipswich and Atletico Madrid, but their performance against Fulham was disappointing.
Iraola admitted he understood the frustration among the club’s supporters, but said it would take time for his team to find consistency.
“I understand the frustration because we were also frustrated,” Iraola said.
The former Bournemouth manager replaced Arne Slot as Liverpool head coach during the summer.
He said Liverpool would experience good and bad periods as the team adjusts to his methods, particularly with a demanding schedule involving Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup matches.
Liverpool will next face Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the League Cup at Anfield on Tuesday.
