Dortmund sign Greek teenager Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk
Borussia Dortmund have signed Greek teenager Konstantinos Karetsas from Belgian club Genk on a five-year contract.
The deal is reportedly worth €30 million ($34 million), with additional performance-related bonuses.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joins Dortmund after an impressive season in Belgium, where he provided 11 assists in the league.
Karetsas has also made a strong start to his international career, scoring three goals in 10 appearances for Greece.
Dortmund signed him to add more creativity to their squad following the departure of long-serving midfielder Julian Brandt, who left the club as a free agent.
Speaking after completing the move, Karetsas said he was proud to join Dortmund and excited to wear the club’s famous black and yellow shirt.
Sporting director Ole Book described the youngster as a creative and intelligent player with excellent technical ability and the skill to unlock tight defences.
Dortmund, who finished second behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last season, are also reportedly interested in signing teenage forward Said El Mala from Cologne as they continue to strengthen their squad.
