Atletico, Arsenal Play 1-1 Draw in Champions League Semi-Final First Leg

Arsenal FC and Atlético Madrid played a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

Viktor Gyökeres gave Arsenal the lead just before half-time after he won and scored a penalty. But Julián Álvarez equalised for Atletico in the second half, also from a penalty, after a handball by Ben White.

Arsenal were unhappy when the referee first gave them another penalty late in the game but later cancelled it after a VAR review, saying there was only slight contact on Eberechi Eze.

Atletico controlled much of the match, especially early on, but Arsenal defended well and managed to take a good result back to England for the second leg.

The match was tense, with both teams playing carefully and trying not to make mistakes. Fans at the stadium threw toilet paper onto the pitch before the game started.

Atletico had some good chances in the second half. Antoine Griezmann hit the crossbar, while Ademola Lookman also came close to scoring but missed his chances.

In the end, both teams will now prepare for the second leg in London, where the winner will move on to the final of the UEFA Champions League.
