Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has said the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, will remain open as long as the ceasefire in the Middle East continues.
He announced on social media that all commercial ships are free to pass through the waterway during the ceasefire period.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important route where a large part of the world’s oil supply passes. It had earlier been affected by tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, leading to fears it could be closed.
US President Donald Trump welcomed Iran’s decision and said the waterway is now fully open for shipping.
However, there was some confusion about the exact ceasefire being referred to, as different agreements were reported between Iran, the US, Israel, and Lebanon.
Iran had earlier restricted movement in the Strait during the conflict but agreed to reopen it as part of a temporary ceasefire deal.
