The Member Representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Shehu Nicholas Garba known as Sarkin-Noma, paid a condolence visit to the Kaduna State Speaker, Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, over the gruesome killing of a Honoroable member of the State Assembly along Kaduna – Zaria road.

It would be recalled that the member, Hon Rilwanu Gadagau, who represented Giwa Constituency was shot dead on December 13 along Kaduna -Zaria Highway by bandits.

The Federal lawmaker, who was accompanied by Hon Joseph Gumbari, Hon Godfrey Gaiya, Hon Ben Bako and Hon Ali Kalat, the member representing Jema’a at the State Assembly said the visit was to condole the Honorable Speaker with whom the late member was a very close ally.

According to him, “The killing of the Honorable member has further proven to us that no one is spared and as men of conscience that we must rise up to the realities of insecurity that has threaten our peaceful coexistence and unity as a People.

“We’re believing that the prayers of innocent Nigerians and the renewed commitment of Government will bring banditry and terrorism to an end.”

The Federal lawmaker prayed for the repose of the soul of the Honorable member and extended his condolence to the Family, the Assembly and the State.

Responding, the Honorable speaker, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, said this year has been a year of temptation for everybody, stressing that the issue of banditry affected people directly or indirectly.

“We’re thanking God that today, people have begun to realise who these bandits are and what they represent. These people have not left both Christians and Muslims, hence it is important for us as a people to understand that they’re purely criminals,” he explained.

According to him, these bandits are not representing anybody, except themselves and the devil.

“If you do your investigation very well, you would realised that in the past 3 days alone in Giwa Local Government Area, they have killed about 37 people. Also, in my Local Government Igabi, there was a time they killed about 57 people but it is rather unfortunate that the media organisations hardly report these incidents.

“In our record, over 1,000 people have been gruesomely killed in my Local Government Area alone since the begining of this banditry.

The Speaker urged the people of Kaduna State to unite and understands that they’re brothers, stressing that only through coming together can they defeat the common enemy.

“The enemy would only take advantage of our differences to continue their evil acts hence we must come together and work to defeat the evil irrespective of party or religious affiliations” he suggested.
