Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu
born 25 June 1965, was the
Managing Director/CEO of Lagos
State Development Property
Corporation (LSDPC). He was also
a 3-time Commissioner in Lagos
State, having served in the
Ministries of Economic Planning
& Budget, Commerce & Industry
and the Ministry of Establishments,
Training & Pensions.

Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu
is an alumnus of the prestigious
Harvard Kennedy School of
Government, London Business
School and the Lagos Business
School. He also earned a Bachelor’s
degree in Surveying & Geo-
Informatics and a Master of
Business Administration (MBA)
from the University of Lagos. His
early education was at Government
Demonstration School, Gbaja,
Surulere and Ijebu-Ife Grammar
School, Ogun State.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu is an associate
member of the Chartered Institute of
Personnel Management (CIPM) and
fellow of the Nigeria Institute of
T r a i n i n g a n d D e v e l o p m e n t
(NITAD). He is into banking, public
services and politics.
Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu began
his political career in 2003, when
appointed a Special Adviser on
Corporate Matters to the then deputy
governor of Lagos State, Femi
Pedro. Then served as the acting
Commissioner for Economic
Planning and Budget until 2007,
when he was appointed as the
Commissioner for Commerce and
Industry by then Governor. Bola
Tinubu. After the General Elections
o f 2 0 0 7 , h e w a s a p p o i n t e d
Commissioner for Establishments,
Training and Pensions by Governor
Babatunde Raji Fashola.He was
served as Managing Director/CEO
of the Lagos State Development and
Property Corporation (LSDPC) by
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in
2016., As part of his services in the
public sector, his achievements
include the supervision of the
Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE)
privatization projects.[8] He set up

and the Control & Command Centre

established under his directives.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu in September
2018 expresses interest in the Lagos
State Gubernatorial seat under the Allprogressive
Congress (APC), Prompt
to his expression of interest, he was
endorsed by major stake holders in the
Lagos state politics; He won the Lagos
gubernatorial primaries of the All-
Progressives Congress (APC) on 2nd
October 2018. At the APC flag-off
campaign rally held on 8th January
2019, Governor of Lagos, Akinwunmi
Ambode, and 63 political parties
shows their support for the candidacy
of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Sanwo-Olu
was elected to the Office of Governor
of Lagos State at the 2019 General
elections for Lagos State as he won
against his opponent Jimi Agbaje on
9th March 2019. He was sworn in as the
15th Governor of Lagos State at the
Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Lagos
Island on Wednesday May 29, 2019.
He has been working on different
development activities, one of which
is road construction across major
areas in Lagos state. Recently,
Babajide Sanwo-Olu asked that the
statue of Fela Kuti that was erected by
Akinwunmi Ambode be removed
from Allen Avenue in Ikeja as to ease
the situation of traffic in that area.
However, the statue is said to be
relocated to a more convenient area in
Lagos state.
