One of the affected supporters, Abubakar Lawal, said their vehicles were attacked by groups of suspected political thugs while they were travelling through Malumfashi to Funtua, where Governor Dikko Umaru Radda was scheduled to flag off his 2027 re-election campaign.
According to some of the victims, the attackers used stones and other objects to smash vehicle windows and assault passengers.
They said the attacks damaged several vehicles and left many supporters injured.
The victims called on the relevant authorities to take action against those responsible for the violence.
They also urged security agencies to strengthen security arrangements to prevent similar incidents during subsequent campaign activities.
Despite the reported violence along the route to Funtua, Governor Radda proceeded with the planned campaign flag-off.
The event forms part of the governor’s statewide campaign designed to take his administration’s development agenda and record of performance directly to residents across the state’s three senatorial zones, 34 local government areas and 361 wards ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Though, as of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the authorities regarding the attacks on the APC supporters and damage to their vehicles.
However, party sources told our reporter that the incident stemmed from internal differences within the party and expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved.
