The U.S. Justice Department has seized about $201,400 in cryptocurrency that was meant to fund Hamas. This move is part of an effort to stop terrorist financing.
Officials tracked the funds to cryptocurrency addresses controlled by Hamas, which have handled over $1.5 million since October 2024.

“We are committed to dismantling Hamas by any means necessary,” said Sue J. Bai, a top official in the Justice Department’s National Security Division.
The FBI led the investigation, uncovering multiple crypto wallets and accounts used to move money. In total, authorities seized around $89,900 from digital wallets and $111,500 from three accounts registered under Palestinian individuals in Turkey and other locations.
“Seizing Hamas funds is a key tool in our fight against terrorism,” said FBI Counterterrorism official David J. Scott.
The operation was carried out by the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, Cyber Division, and Counterterrorism Division.
