President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in improving infrastructure in Abuja.
He believes that Wike’s work will help the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) win the FCT in the 2027 elections.

Tinubu made these remarks on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja when Wike led a group of FCT residents to pay him a Sallah visit after Ramadan.
Despite Wike being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu acknowledged his contributions, calling him “Mr. Infrastructure.”
He highlighted Wike’s efforts in upgrading health centers, schools, and road networks, as well as reviving abandoned projects, including the Vice President’s residence.
The President also noted that Wike had convinced him to ease financial restrictions, allowing the FCT to access more funds for development.
Tinubu jokingly recalled telling Wike, “If this benefits your party (PDP) too much, you might lose your job,” to which Wike replied, “We will settle that, Oga.”
Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians want results, peace, and economic stability, saying, “People want comfort, good health, and fair leadership.”
He praised Wike’s ability to work in Abuja, despite being from southern Nigeria, as a good example of national unity.
After the meeting, Wike expressed gratitude for the President’s support, saying, “I am happy that my boss has confidence in me. His encouragement motivates me to continue working for the people of Abuja.”
