The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has effectively executed its mission to safeguard critical national infrastructure, resulting in the discovery and eradication of more than 100 illegal refineries over the past two years.
During a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on Wednesday, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of NSCDC, shared this achievement.

He also highlighted the Corps’ success in tackling oil bunkering-related cases, having apprehended over 200 suspects, with 100 successfully prosecuted.
Dr. Audi emphasized NSCDC’s remarkable impact in curbing pipeline vandalism during his tenure, while conveying his optimism and commitment to further collaboration with NMDPRA for enhanced outcomes.
He underscored the intensified efforts to enhance security measures across national facilities.
Mallam Bashir Sadiq, the Executive Director of Corporate Services and Administration at NMDPRA, commended NSCDC’s leadership for effectively safeguarding critical infrastructure, including petroleum facilities.
He expressed gratitude for the Corps’ substantial support and anticipated that this visit would fortify the relationship between the two government agencies.
Sadiq urged NSCDC to persist in fulfilling its legal responsibilities, thereby contributing to securing the nation’s economy by preventing detrimental oil theft.
