Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, says he has the ability to become Nigeria’s next president.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Makinde said he believes he is qualified to lead the country, but added that the decision would depend on what Nigerians and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), want.

“I believe I have the capacity to be president. But is that what Nigerians want right now? Is that what my party wants? We still have time to figure that out,” he said.
Makinde also said the 2027 election will be more about what Nigerians want, not just a contest between PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He emphasized the need to first fix the PDP before thinking about any political ambition.
He added that even if his political journey ends with his current role as governor, he would be content.
