Houthi attacks kill 10 in Yemen’s Marib province
At least 10 people were killed in Houthi attacks in Yemen’s Marib province on Friday, as the Iran-backed rebels stepped up their attacks in the oil-rich region.
A Yemeni military source said eight government soldiers were killed and 12 others injured in the attacks.

Yemen’s Health Minister Qasim Buhaibeh said Houthi shelling also hit residential areas and displacement camps in Marib city, killing at least two civilians and injuring 14 others.
The Houthis later claimed responsibility for an attack on a government-controlled military camp in the province.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the rebels attacked the Sahn al-Jinn camp with missiles and drones, targeting military equipment, vehicles and weapons.
A Yemeni military source said the Houthis had fired more than 10 missiles and launched seven one-way attack drones at military camps in Marib.
The latest attacks came a day after at least 58 government soldiers were reportedly killed in Houthi missile and drone strikes, making it one of the deadliest clashes between the two sides in years.
A source close to the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s government warned that the coalition would not allow the Houthis to take control of Marib.
The source described Marib as a “red line” and said Saudi Arabia believed the Houthis were preparing for a major offensive in the province.
Marib is strategically important because it contains major oil fields and energy facilities. The province is divided between Houthi forces and the internationally recognised Yemeni government, which controls Marib city.
The Houthis launched a major offensive to capture the province in 2021, but fighting largely stopped after a nationwide truce in 2022.
That truce has now come under serious pressure as the Houthis have increased attacks amid the wider US-Iran conflict.
The Houthis have also attacked Saudi-linked targets and announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia.
Yemen has been caught in a civil war for more than a decade, with the Houthis controlling large parts of the north, including the capital, Sanaa.
