Gunmen invade Gwarimpa estate, abduct residents

Some gunmen suspected to be bandits in the early hours of Monday attacked Gwarinpa Estate in Federal Capital Territory.

It was learnt that the gunmen who invaded the estate between between 1am and 4am, also abducted a yet-to-be-identified number of residents.

Although details remain sketchy, a resident, who simply identified himself as Mohammed said they gained access to Genuine Estate after Efab Queens in 6th Avenue, Gwarinpa, with dangerous weapons.

He explained to our correspondent on telephone that the bandits were armed with bows, arrows, and machetes in a large drove.

When contacted, the spokesperson of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, told Daily Trust that the case was a robbery case not a kidnapping case.

Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said the police have already been mobilised to the scene to ascertain how the incident happened.

She promised that the newsmen will be duly briefed after details of the incident have been gotten.
