Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has denied reports that he was kidnapped, stating that he is safe in Abuja and voluntarily meeting with security agencies.
In a video released on Saturday, Nwaeke refuted claims by his wife, Florence, who had earlier raised alarm over his whereabouts. He said she was misled and given a false script to read.

“I am in TRANSCORP Abuja. I arrived this morning from Port Harcourt to meet with security agencies and report myself over recent events in Rivers State. I resigned as Head of Service on Monday because of these issues,” Nwaeke explained.
He criticized the viral video in which his wife pleaded for help, insisting he was not under duress.
Meanwhile, Florence Nwaeke had expressed fears that her husband had been kidnapped after failing to reach him. Speaking to journalists, she claimed his recent online appearance seemed suspicious and that he was not responding to her messages.
Beyond the confusion over his whereabouts, Nwaeke had previously accused Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of ordering the 2023 bombing of the State House of Assembly to prevent impeachment.
He alleged that Fubara’s then-Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, received money for the attack.
Governor Fubara has dismissed the accusations, claiming Nwaeke had been influenced by external forces.
Nwaeke, however, insisted that his resignation was voluntary and not forced.
