President Tinubu Responsible for My Ministerial Exclusion, Not National Assembly—El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that his exclusion from President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list was a direct decision by the President himself, rather than the National Assembly.

This revelation came during a recent interview where El-Rufai addressed the speculations surrounding his non-inclusion in the cabinet.

El-Rufai emphasized that while the National Assembly plays a crucial role in the confirmation of ministerial nominees, the prerogative of nomination rests solely with the President.

He stated, “It is essential to clarify that my omission was a decision made by President Tinubu. The National Assembly had no part in this particular matter.”

This statement aims to dispel rumors suggesting that legislative opposition was the cause of his exclusion.

El-Rufai further elaborated on his continued commitment to public service and his unwavering support for the current administration’s policies and initiatives.

Political analysts have weighed in on this development, noting that such decisions are not uncommon in political appointments and often reflect strategic considerations by the executive branch.

The presidency has yet to issue an official statement regarding El-Rufai’s comments.
