Air Peace Brings Home 78 Nigerian Women Trafficked to Ivory Coast, Offers Free Medical Care

Air Peace airline has rescued 78 Nigerian women who were tricked into travelling to Côte d’Ivoire with fake job promises.

The airline used one of its planes to fly from Lagos to Abidjan and brought the women back to Nigeria on the same day — all for free.

The Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, welcomed the women and said the Nigerian government would support them. He also said the women would not be punished and that officials from the government were present to receive them.

Onyema told the women that they should not feel ashamed or hopeless. He encouraged them to believe in themselves and aim high. “You can become anything, even a president or governor,” he said. “You don’t need to do wrong things to succeed.”

He added that the women had suffered a lot and deserved to be treated with respect and care. To help them recover, they will all receive free medical treatment at Duchess Hospital.

This is not the first time Air Peace has helped Nigerians in crisis. In 2019, the airline flew back Nigerians affected by violence in South Africa.

During COVID-19, they brought home stranded Nigerians from around the world. In 2022, Air Peace rescued Nigerians during the Russia-Ukraine war, and in 2023, it helped evacuate Nigerians from Sudan.

Onyema’s actions continue to show his commitment to helping Nigerians in need.
