The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Rivers State Government over its refusal to allow a political rally at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Wike said organisers of the Renewed Hope Family rally applied to use the stadium for an event scheduled for Friday, but the state government did not approve the request.

He warned that if the government again refuses to give approval in the future, the organisers will force their way into the stadium and hold the rally there.
Wike made this statement on Friday while speaking at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Port Harcourt, during the inauguration of Renewed Hope Agenda coordinators for the three senatorial districts and the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
According to him, the organisers will submit another application to use the stadium for the inauguration of ward-level coordinators.
Wike said people from Rivers State should not be denied access to public facilities in their own state. He added that if approval is denied again, they will go ahead and use the facility by force.
