Wike Accuses Rivers Political Leaders Of Misleading Fubara, Says Agreement Must Be Honoured

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused some Rivers State political leaders of misleading Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to supporters in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Wike said the peace agreement reached before President Bola Tinubu to resolve the political crisis in Rivers State must be respected.

He claimed that Governor Fubara did not keep to the agreement, which was signed by key leaders, including former governor Peter Odili, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other party leaders.

Wike criticised politicians who signed the agreement but later spoke against it, warning that such actions could cause instability. He said Rivers State is an important political force in the South-South and urged leaders to always speak the truth.

He also recalled failed attempts to weaken the PDP in the state, saying recent events have shown those efforts were useless. Wike praised President Tinubu for appointing Rivers indigenes into key federal positions and said the President had kept his promises.

Other speakers at the meeting, including George Sekibo of the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress, openly supported Wike and criticised Governor Fubara. Local leaders also praised Wike for bringing development and federal appointments to Ogu/Bolo.

The event was attended by political leaders, traditional rulers and community members.
