The US government says it will increase military support to Nigeria to help fight terrorists, especially those linked to ISIS.
A top US military official for Africa, Lieutenant General John Brennan, said the Pentagon is strengthening cooperation with African armies, including Nigeria’s, to face security threats in the Sahel region.

He explained that the US has been under pressure to help address security problems in countries like Nigeria and Somalia, which face attacks from terrorist groups.
Brennan added that security cooperation between the US and Nigeria is very important, especially after reports of attacks by jihadist groups in Nigeria.
The US move aims to strengthen Nigerian forces to protect the country and reduce the threat of terrorism.
