Troops Arrest Two Suspected Gun Runners in Taraba

Nigerian Army troops in Taraba State have arrested two men suspected of being involved in illegal gun running during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

The first suspect, Christopher Adamu, was arrested in Jalingo, while the second suspect, James Yangyang, was later arrested in the Ardo Kola area of the state.

The army said preliminary investigations showed that the suspects were part of a network involved in supplying illegal weapons within the state. Items recovered during the operation included identity cards, ATM cards, a mobile phone, and charms.

Further findings revealed that one of the suspects had earlier sold an AK-47 rifle to another individual in November 2025, confirming the existence of an arms trafficking network in the area.

Both suspects are currently in military custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.

The army also warned criminals and arms dealers to stay away from Taraba State and called on residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
