President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners to represent Nigeria in different countries and at the United Nations.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the list includes 34 political appointees (non-career ambassadors) and 31 professional diplomats.

Among the notable appointments, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as ambassador to Germany, while presidential aide Reno Omokri has been posted to Mexico.
Former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau will represent Nigeria in China, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has been appointed as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Other appointees include former Abia governor Okezie Ikpeazu to Spain and former Health Minister Isaac Adewole to Canada.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received approval from some host countries for the appointments, while requests have been sent to others for formal diplomatic consent known as agrément.
All the ambassadors-designate were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
They are expected to begin their assignments after completing an induction programme and receiving approval from their host countries.
