Tiger Woods Arrested, Charged with DUI After Florida Crash

Golf superstar Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after a car crash in Florida on Friday. Law enforcement officials confirmed the news.

Woods, 50, was not hurt in the accident. His car hit a truck and flipped over. He was arrested at the scene.

The sheriff said Woods showed signs of being impaired. However, he passed a breath test for alcohol. He was charged with DUI after refusing to take a urine test.

Drug experts at the scene believed Woods was impaired by some kind of medication or drug. But because he refused the urine test, officials said they will never know exactly what caused the impairment.

The sheriff said the crash could have been much worse. He noted that the road where it happened has a speed limit of 30 miles per hour. Photos from the scene showed that Woods’ car slid a long distance before stopping.

President Donald Trump said he felt bad for Woods and called him a close friend.

Under Florida law, Woods will be held in jail for at least eight hours before being released.

Friday’s crash happened five years after Woods was seriously injured in another car accident in California. That crash left him with severe leg injuries. He has also had health problems since then, including a ruptured Achilles tendon and back surgery.

Woods is one of the greatest golfers in history. He has won 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour events, which ties the all-time record. He was competing in a golf event earlier this week and had not ruled out playing in next month’s Masters tournament.
