The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions has dismissed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, declaring it “dead on arrival.”
In its ruling on Wednesday, the committee stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition, which accused Akpabio of misconduct and abuse of office, was invalid because she signed the document herself instead of having it endorsed by another person.

Additionally, the committee noted that the case was already in court, making it beyond the Senate’s jurisdiction.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was absent from the hearing.
The committee chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, expressed disappointment over her absence, emphasizing that she had been properly notified.
Meanwhile, Akpabio has denied all allegations against him, while the Senate has referred Akpoti-Uduaghan to its disciplinary committee over her previous dispute with the Senate President regarding seating arrangements.
