Peter Obi Denies Links to APC, Calls for Fair Politics

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has distanced himself from an All Progressives Congress (APC) meeting where his name was mentioned.

He emphasized that he does not participate in negative politics or blackmail.

In a statement on his X handle, Obi warned against dragging him into political discussions that do not reflect his values.

“I saw a report about an APC meeting where my name was mentioned. Let me be clear: I do not engage in toxic politics or blackmail. My name should not be linked to such matters,” he said.

“I Am Not an APC Member”

Obi reaffirmed that he is not part of the APC and has no plans to join. He stressed that political discussions should be based on integrity, fairness, and competence rather than personal attacks or partisan interests.

Addressing speculations about Valentine Ozigbo, he insisted that all political aspirants should be judged on merit, not through controversy or manipulation.

“As elections approach, political choices should be based on credibility and the ability to bring real change—not on dragging people into unnecessary controversies,” Obi added.

With the Anambra State governorship election set for November, he urged all parties, including Labour Party, to ensure free and fair primaries.

He called for a political process based on transparency and democracy.

“This election is a chance for Nigeria to embrace true democracy, something we are still struggling to achieve,” Obi said.

He urged politicians to reject divisive politics and work toward a better Nigeria.
