The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the South-South Development Commission Bill into law, calling it a major step toward improving the region.
In a statement by its National Chairman, Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, PANDEF appreciated both the President and the National Assembly for passing the bill quickly.

The group said this decision shows the government’s commitment to ensuring equal development across Nigeria.
“This action has strengthened our people’s trust in the Federal Government. It is a major step toward solving the social, environmental, and developmental challenges facing the South-South region,” PANDEF stated.
The group urged President Tinubu to appoint capable leaders for the new commission to ensure it effectively supports state governments in promoting sustainable growth.
PANDEF also highlighted the Niger Delta’s importance to Nigeria’s economy due to its oil and gas production.
The group emphasized the need for urgent action to address environmental damage and poor infrastructure in the region.
Additionally, PANDEF called on the government to focus on environmental restoration and infrastructural projects.
They also urged President Tinubu to step in and resolve the political crisis in Rivers State by reinstating Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the State Assembly members.
PANDEF reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government to promote peace, development, and stability in the South-South region.
