Osimhen Nears Yekini’s Record as Nigeria’s Top Goal Scorer

Victor Osimhen is getting close to breaking Rashidi Yekini’s record as Nigeria’s highest goal scorer of all time.

Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, scored two goals in Nigeria’s 4–0 win against Mozambique in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on Monday night.

Before the match, the 27-year-old striker had scored 32 goals for Nigeria. After scoring twice in the game, his total is now 34 goals. This means he is just three goals behind Rashidi Yekini’s record of 37 goals.

Below is the list of Nigeria’s all-time top scorers:

Rashidi Yekini – 37 goals

Victor Osimhen – 34 goals

Segun Odegbami – 23 goals

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 21 goals

Ikechukwu Uche – 19 goals

Obafemi Martins – 18 goals

Sunday Oyarekua – 17 goals

Odion Ighalo, Samson Siasia, Ahmed Musa – 16 goals each

Osimhen now has a strong chance to become Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in history if he scores three more goals.
