NUJ FCT Seeks Partnership with Tayan Group on Affordable Housing, Ultra-Modern Congress Hall

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has sought strategic collaboration with Tayan Group Construction to advance affordable housing for journalists and accelerate completion of its ultra-modern Congress Hall project in Abuja.

The appeal was made on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the NUJ FCT Council leadership to the headquarters of Tayan Group, where the company’s Managing Director reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships that promote inclusive development, particularly in the media sector.

Speaking during the visit, the NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Ms. Grace Ike, thanked Tayan Group’s management for the warm reception and described the company as a key player in Abuja’s urban transformation.

Representing over 1,500 journalists in the FCT, Ike said the union is eager to build mutual beneficial relationships with forward-thinking organizations that align with development and social responsibility.

She appealed to Tayan Group to support the ongoing NUJ FCT ultra-modern Congress Hall project, which is intended to serve as a modern center for media training, professional events, and journalists’ welfare.

“We humbly seek your support—whether through construction materials or technical expertise to help us complete this vital project and create a lasting legacy for journalism in Nigeria,” she said.

Ike outlined areas of potential collaboration, including media promotion of Tayan Group’s projects, joint community programs on affordable housing and urban development, capacity-building initiatives, and mass housing schemes tailored for journalists in Abuja.

She also called for infrastructure synergy, particularly in actualizing the NUJ FCT Journalists Village, which could enhance economic empowerment in the media sector.

The NUJ FCT Chairman expressed optimism that the partnership would promote transparency, development, and shared prosperity in the Federal Capital Territory.

On the issue on Mass Housing she expressed optimism that a journalists village would become a reality for members

In response, Tayan Group’s Managing Director, Akinjide Fabgemi, described the engagement as “long overdue” and expressed appreciation to the NUJ FCT Council, led by Chairman Ms. Grace Ike.

“We consider all our clients as family, and collaboration is how the world works today. No organization can thrive alone, and the media is one of the most important pillars of our business,” he said.

He stressed that Tayan Group remains open to partnerships with the NUJ FCT across various fronts, noting that media visibility and credibility are critical to the success of real estate developments.

“We are ready and willing to partner with the NUJ FCT Council. We believe such collaboration will yield positive results for both parties,” he added.

On affordable housing delivery, the Managing Director disclosed that Tayan Group offers a wide range of affordable land and housing options across Abuja, catering to different income levels.

“We have land and housing solutions for everybody, from as low as ₦600,000 to luxury properties worth over ₦100 million. Our goal is to ensure that even the poorest of the poor can have a roof over their heads,” he said.

He further assured NUJ members of flexible payment plans, including structured options spanning up to two years for land acquisition and longer tenures through financial institutions that will spread for twenty years

“Our properties are often the most affordable wherever we operate—not because we want to undercut the market, but because we understand how difficult it is to earn money. Our payment plans and open-door policy are among the best you will find,” he noted.
