The head of NATO, Mark Rutte, says member countries are talking about the best way to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
This waterway is very important because a large part of the world’s oil and gas passes through it.

Rutte said many countries agree that the strait must be opened again. He explained that NATO members are working together to find a solution.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has asked world powers to send warships to protect oil tankers traveling through the strait.
The situation became worse after Iran closed the strait during a conflict with the United States and Israel. This has caused global oil prices to rise by more than 40 percent.
Trump also criticised NATO, saying the alliance is making a mistake by not taking action. He questioned whether NATO would support the United States when needed.
Since returning to power in 2025, Trump has continued to push NATO countries to spend more money on defence.
He also said the United States may need to rethink its relationship with NATO, although no final decision has been made.
