Israel’s military said it attacked an Iranian naval weapons research centre in Tehran, as several explosions were heard in the city on Saturday night.
The attack came shortly after Yemen’s Houthi group said it had joined the conflict by firing a missile toward Israel. The missile was later intercepted, according to Israel.
Israel said it targeted a facility that produces different types of naval weapons, including ships and military equipment. Witnesses in Tehran reported loud explosions and thick smoke in the area.
An Israeli spokesman said attacks on Iran’s military sites are increasing and may soon cover all major targets.
A resident in Tehran said, “I miss a peaceful night’s sleep… it felt like all of Tehran was shaking. We don’t want this war, we just want a normal life.”
The conflict started after the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes in Iran, which killed Iran’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, fighting has spread across the region, affecting oil supply and global trade.
There are growing fears that attacks could disrupt shipping in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, key routes for global oil transport.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is planning peace talks with countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to help reduce tensions. Iran has welcomed these efforts, and the U.S. has also shown interest in possible talks.
The war has already caused damage across the region. Missiles and drone attacks have hit parts of the UAE, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, causing deaths, injuries, and destruction to key facilities.
Air travel and shipping have also been affected, with some ports and airports damaged or temporarily closed.
Iran has warned it will respond to the attacks, raising fears that the conflict could grow even wider.
