El-Rufai Withdraws Case Against Abuja Magistrate in ₦1bn Suit

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has withdrawn his case against a magistrate in his ₦1 billion rights lawsuit.

His lawyer told the Federal High Court in Abuja that they want the magistrate’s name removed from the case.

This came after the judge pointed out that the magistrate was not clearly identified in the suit.

The court agreed and struck out the magistrate’s name, as well as an earlier request filed by El-Rufai’s team.

Other lawyers in the case, including those for the police and ICPC, did not oppose the move.

El-Rufai’s lawyer then asked for more time to correct and amend the case. The judge agreed and adjourned the matter until June 17.

El-Rufai is still seeking ₦1 billion in damages against the ICPC, the police, the Attorney-General of the Federation, and others.
