Former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed claims that he has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political party, calling it fake news.
In a statement on his verified X account, El-Rufai urged the public to ignore the false reports and revealed that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those spreading the rumors.

“Please disregard the lies and rumors about my political affiliation. My lawyers are handling the lead sources of this fake news,” he said.
A close aide to El-Rufai also denied the allegations, describing them as the work of mischief-makers. “The reports are completely false. The former governor has not joined PDP or any other party,” the aide said during a phone interview.
The rumors, which circulated on social media and some online platforms, claimed that El-Rufai had rejoined PDP to contest the 2027 presidential election and had collected a PDP membership card in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna North.
These reports have been debunked as baseless fabrications.
