The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Grace Ike, has congratulated Christians in the Federal Capital Territory and across Nigeria on the occasion of Easter, calling for renewed hope, sacrifice, and national unity.
In a statement issued to mark the celebration, Ike described Easter as a significant period in the Christian faith, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which symbolises victory over death and the promise of eternal hope.

She noted that the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and selfless service, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Christ.
The NUJ chairman also highlighted the importance of the Lenten season, characterised by fasting, prayer, and charity, saying these values are essential for promoting peace, moral integrity, and compassion in society.
Ike urged Christians, particularly journalists, to uphold the principles of truth, fairness, and responsibility in their professional duties, while contributing to national development.
She further called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, stressing that the country’s strength lies in its diversity.
According to her, Easter should also inspire citizens to extend love and support to the less privileged, noting that the celebration goes beyond faith to include acts of kindness and compassion.
The NUJ chairman also appealed to leaders at all levels to prioritise the welfare of citizens, promote justice, and ensure inclusive governance, drawing inspiration from the spirit of sacrifice associated with Easter.
She encouraged Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and in an atmosphere of peace and goodwill.
Ike wished Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration, expressing hope that the season would strengthen unity and bring lasting peace and prosperity to the nation.
