CAF to Announce Decision on WAFCON 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to make an official statement about the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) within the next 48 hours.

Confederation of African Football is the body in charge of football in Africa.

The tournament is planned to take place in Morocco later this month.

There are reports that the competition may be postponed. CAF’s Communications Director, Luxolo September, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the football body is giving the WAFCON situation “urgent and high-level attention.”

Morocco also hosted the delayed 2024 edition of the tournament.

The 2026 competition is scheduled to begin on March 17 and end on April 3, 2026.

The four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
