Bandits Are Unacceptable, Must Be Stopped — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said that kidnapping and terrorism are not part of Nigeria’s culture and must be stopped immediately.

He described insecurity as a major problem slowing down the country’s economic growth.

Speaking at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, Tinubu promised to strengthen security agencies to deal with bandits and terrorists. He said the fight against insecurity has kept leaders “sleepless,” but assured Nigerians that the government will succeed.

His remarks followed deadly attacks in Kwara and Katsina states, where many people were killed and others abducted.

Tinubu praised some governors, including those of Borno and Katsina, for their efforts in tackling insecurity. He also linked some security problems to clashes between farmers and herders, calling for livestock reforms, including ranching programmes, to reduce conflict.

The President said his administration is determined to ensure the success of livestock reforms and develop the livestock sector as part of efforts to promote peace and economic growth.
